"Love at first swipe" is the perfect way to descibe the start of Elaine and David's relationship. They were part of an early wave of tinder users who found their life time partner online. They both love the outdoor and traveling. In fact since they met several years ago, they have visited many destinations together.
When I met Elaine and David, about a year before their wedding date, they described their ideal wedding as a casual gathering with families and close friends. They want their wedding to be as stress-free and laid-back as possible. In addition, their common love for beer led them to choosing a local brewery to host their wedding. Granite Brewery is a casual local pub with a separate section to accommodate smaller events. It is conveniently located in mid-town Toronto and their inexpensive packages make it a popular choice for intimate weddings.
On Elaine and David's big date, I arrived at the venue an hour before the start of the ceremony. The staff at Granite Brewery were busy setting up the back of the restaurant for dinner reception. I walked out through the backdoor and passed by cocktail reception tent towards the private garden. The garden was shadowed by several tall old trees and it had been setup with chairs for the ceremony. I bumped into David, who was there early to assist with setup. I spent some time photographing David along with his parents and friends. David's parent traveled from Cuba and bought along a box of Cuban cigars. Afterwards I walked around the venue to capture wedding details, such as the beer recipe guest book and the cheese wheel wedding cake. By the time I was done, the ceremony was about to start.
With cooperation from the beautiful weather, the outdoor wedding ceremony finished smoothly. I pulled Elaine and David aside for portraits and family photos, while the rest of the guests enjoy themselves at the cocktail reception. Even though the garden is small, it is cozy and secluded from busy streets via landscape walls. By the time we were finished with the photo session, it was time to start the dinner reception. The night was filled with games, speeches, dancing and lots of laughter. Essentially everyone was having a great time and I was able to capture a lot of candid and happy moments.
