A Summer wedding at the Black Creek Pioneer Village

If you grew up in Toronto, you might remember visiting the black creek pioneer village (BCPV) as a kid during a school field trip. It is an open-air heritage museum that recreates what life used to be like in Toronto back in the 1860s. It is also available as a wedding venue for couples to tie the knot in. BCPV is perfect for those who like rustic and old school charm.

Today we are featuring Lisa and Nick’s wedding at the black creek pioneer village. They are a fun-loving couple who met while studying in the same University program. The day started off at a nearby hotel, where the guys and girls get ready.

Black Creek Pioneer Village Wedding Photos

Conveniently located off highway 400 in Toronto, the black creek pioneer village takes you back to the 19th century, without getting out of the city. It is a big open green space with many historic and Victorian-styed buildings. It is a photographer’s dream to be surrounded by all these historic architectures. It doesn’t hurt that Lisa and Nick are so nature in front of the camera. The way they walk, laugh and joke at each other truly shows how much they enjoy being with each other. BCPV has a lot of unique and picturesque buildings. Some of our favorite spots include Dominion carriage works (red building), Laskay emporium (yellow building), and half way house inn (large white building). Outdoor Wedding Ceremony in front of the Town Hall

Lisa and Nick chose an outdoor wedding ceremony in front of the Wilmot township hall, which is a white timber frame structure with clapboard siding. The hall is situated by a large green open space, ideal for setting up seats. Soon after everyone has been seated, Lisa arrived at the hall on a horse carriage. It was a short and sweet ceremony, officiated by Lisa’s father.

Reception inside the Grand Pavilion

After the ceremony, there are lawn games, snacks and drinks for guests to enjoy. The wedding reception was held inside the grand pavilion, which is just a few steps away from the ceremony location. The pavilion can easily hold more than 150 guests. The space can be re-configured to meet different needs. Lisa and Nick decided on a traditional round table styled sitting for guests, while the head table is located on the podium. The back of the podium can be closed, but keeping it open allow a cross breeze and keeps the space nice and cool. Lisa and Nick loves to read, so they have decorated each table with some of their favorite books as the center piece.
